Her area of research is on viable blockchain applications in the pharmaceutical, health, agriculture, energy and supply chain fields. The majority of her work is focused building a global collaborative community to develop solutions that enable “user-centric” frameworks empowering individuals with the rights and means to manage their information (ie. health, digital citizenship, etc) supported by emerging technologies and building consensus on policy, protocol, and process changes.
Maria is the founder and chief evangelist of the pharma blockchain initiative, which seeks to educate, build collaborations and drive adoption of the technology in viable applications throughout the value chain. In addition, Maria is project leader of IEEE-SA’s critical initiative, Digital Inclusion through Trust and Agency, a comprehensive program aimed at developing solutions for affordable digital access for world’s unconnected population while building a global community to develop a trust framework that empowers and protects the digital persona through personal agency.
Her area of focus includes research on challenges and opportunities in integrating emerging technology applications such as AI, IoT, ML, VR/AR, 3D Printing, smart materials and blockchain into the areas of pharmaceutical, precision medicine, agriculture, energy, and the digital citizenship.
In 2015, Maria founded the information company, DisruptiveRx™, a platform that brings pragmatic focus on breakthrough innovations in the pharmaceutical and health landscape that would lead to enhanced patient care and safety and optimizing the drug development lifecycle.
Maria has enjoyed a significant and accomplished career in multiple industry sectors (ie. pharmaceutical, life sciences, legal, finance, natural resources/mining, and luxury goods) both in the US and abroad. Her success has been the ability to motivate audiences to change a behavior and or take an action, which is a direct result of her core philosophy, “Technology inspires us; passion moves us.”
